Bank Of America
Told other individuals my financial status with them

Bank of America has called other members of my household and discussed and revealed my debt, the amount of my debt, and my overall financial status with those individuals.

I wasn't for sure if they were allowed to do this. I knew collection agencies are not allowed to, but when I looked up information on the internet, the information I found said that banks and creditors were not allowed to do this either, and Bank of America has done this at least twice already.

This has caused major grief for members of my family and much additional stress in addition to the stress of the debt, to me.

I am paying what I can, but now I feel that it would have served them right for me to file bankruptcy and not pay them a dime. I am not trying to get out of what I owe, and this is the thanks I get for trying to make good on my debt.

The double the minimum payment law change in 2005 was a big part of me falling behind in my debt, and so I feel the banks and credit card companies have brought a large part of this on themselves.

I still plan on paying my debt, but now I also want to know how I can hold them accountable for breaking the law and discussing my financial status with 3rd party members.

Thanks for any help I can get on this.
