I received two phone calls from a Mr. B.D. From American Credit and Collections.
He became abusive and insulting and used every attempt to humiliate me over the phone and wanted me to settle over the phone.
I took his name and address. Collection agencies cannot use these kinds of tactics with consumers and I told him so.
That's when he hung up on me. There are countless ways to settle debts.
Their method is not legal.
When I called the number of the company, and punched in the extension of 'Executive Offices', the message was, "This is Mike, leave a message."
Sounds fishy to me. Don't be fooled. Know your rights.
My message to "Mike" was this.
"If Mr. B.D. Ever calls me again, I will file a harrassment report with local law enforcement."
I don't know who these people are, but remember, you cannot be harrassed by collection companies. You cannot go to jail for oweing money. You have legal recourse.
