On 5/15 I received a call from Mr. Ryan Dunn a loan rep fro Amstar Solutions saying I had been approved for a secure loan of $5000. He went on to tell me that his company is registered with the BBB. He said the loan had a fixed interest rate of 10% and my payments would be $160.86 per month to be paid in full in 36 months. He said all I had to do was pay $965 which is 6 months of payments that would be deducted from what I owe. He went on to say it was a guaranteed loan & upon receiving my secured deposit the money would be direct deposited into my account.
On 5/16 spoke with Mr. Dunn again and again he guaranteed me it was a guaranteed loan & gave me the info I needed to send my money via Money Gram to Mr. Paul J. Bassard in Hamilton Canada. I asked him why did I have to send it to Canada & he said that it was because there is where the loan company was located. Sent the money (I had faith because they had checked out with BBB) gave him the reference number & he welcomed me to the company & ensured that my funds would be deposited into my account on 5/18 & that within 10-14 days I would get my welcome package. I told him I was a little nervous because this money I had sent was money for my rent & he told me not to be nervous because the money would be there on 5/18 & that I cold call him anytime to speak with him. He also gave me the extension to Customer Service.
On 5/18 found no money in my account, attempted to call Mr. Dunn who had been so nice the day before but now I found he would not take my call. Called to Customer service & spoke to the "manager Jack" who informed me that upon re-evaluating my credit I would have to give an additional amount of $965. I told him I could not afford to give anymore money & why were they asking for more money when Mr. Dunn had said it was already guaranteed. He said that per page 1 paragraph 4 on review they could ask for more money, told him that the loan officer had never gone over the loan agreement & that I would like a full refund of my money. He said I would have to wait 30 days asked him where it stated that on the loan agreement & he said it doesn't. I asked how come I had never been advised of this since again Mr. Dunn assured me that I would get the loan. He became hostile when I asked him to e-mail me this information. He said he would send it on 5/19 asked why he could not send it on 5/18 & he said because he did not have to & hung up.
On 5/19 upon checking my e-mail I still did not find this refund notice & called Mr. Dunn he hung up on me so called Jack & he became verbally abusive & hung up too. Granted I should have not been to eager on receiving this loan but those of you out there know that every once in a while we could use a loan just to catch up. Since they had checked out with the BBB & after doing a further search (after the matter) I found that they are not located at the address they give. I found this out by calling companies located in the office building that they have listed as their business address. So I ask when one does apply with the BBB what info is requested? I trust the BBB but after this I wonder is it really doing any good? I fell like in this day & age of ID theft that if a company is gong to register with the BBB they should give more info than just their business name. They should have to show a business license, President & CEO names & phone numbers & prove how long they have been in business.
All I want is my money back & I DO NOT want them doing this to anyone else. We do not sit on our butts & get our money for free, we work hard for what we get & some time bad thing just happen to good people.
