"Jennifer" from Midland Credit Management attempted to use high pressure tactics to get me to give up my banking information/account number. She even put her supervisor on the phone to try and persuade me into giving up my number. I simply stated to both of them that first of all I never even heard of Midland Credit Management and to just say that I owe money to Tribune (credit card) and that I needed to send money to them by personal check or debit card was just not going to happen. I also told them plainly that I don't trust them.
Jennifer asked me if I was refusing to pay what she stated that I "owe" and I reiterated to her if she is expecting me to make a payment to someone over the phone that I don't know anything about then yes I am refusing. A few weeks had went by before I heard from her again and when I talked to her she said that because I didn't respond to the "statement" that was sent to me, the call was to follow up on what my intentions were. I tried to talk to her reasonably but her main objective was to get my checking account and to record my authorization to debit my account. When her attempts failed and she realized that it was not going to happen she hung up on me. How professional is that?
Basically my point is I refuse to give in to intimidation, and if I have to go to court as a result of my actions than so be it. I've dealt with these people before (Law Offices Of Sam Streeter). I even sent them by way of certified mail a letter to stop harassing me and calling me at work. The letter was sent back to me about two months later saying that the address was unknown. Not sure how I plan to resolve this matter but seeking legal help is definitely an option.
