I owe a debt with a local college in Michigan. I take full responsibility for it. Making plans to pay that off so I can go back to school in the fall. I have been getting these harassing phone calls from NES saying I need to pay the entire balance due right now or they will sue me. Tried to work out a payment arrangment they wouldn't accept it, saying it was to late.
We then went through this whole thing of how much money my husband and I make and what we spend it on then I was told I make good money and I should have no problem paying this off. Wouldn't listen to me about the fact that I didn't have the money and was willing to have it paid in full by the end of March.
Then I was told that they would add interest of up to $20.00 a day until this was paid in full and that I should a open a credit card and charge this balance to it and pay that off instead of them. Hello!!! And then they wanted me to use my tax refund to pay them, but that's already spent on property taxes. Anyways, very frustrated.
They won't listen to why I can't pay this right now. Can they sue me? They say they are making a courtesy call but it is definetly harrassment since they won't accept any payment arrangments or will not listen to the reasons I can't pay them. Any help or advise?
