Do what you want banking. It works here

Well from the looks of it I am not the only one with complaints. We have banked with BB&T for about a year. The problems started within a couple months of opening the account. We were new to NC and thought they would be a good financial institute to go with. My husband had banked with BB&T previously, although it had been awhile.

We had an issue with the NC department of revenue for the tax year which we didn't even live here. BB&t allowed them to garnish our account, with no notice. When we realized there was a problem and contacted them, it was at that time that they informed us as to the issue. We DID receive a letter almost 10 days after all this happened. So not only was there NSF fee's, BB&T charged us $75.00 to let them do that. Pretty handy for them.

When the issue was finally resolved and we took them proof, we were told we need to get the NSF fee's and the $75.00 back from NC.

Next, and I know everyone love's this. You go to use your ATM/Debit card (with money in the account) and you are told that it is declined. You try both card's because there is no way, that both should not be working and guess what? It is declined as well. Facing the humiliation you charge it to a credit card and leave. Get home, call to find out they have no idea what happened but both cards were canceled. HMMMMMM, and they can even tell you were you tried using it at, pretty smart. So we changed banks and left only my husband's VA direct deposit going there.

Now, they are telling the VA that our account is closed and they returned the deposit to the VA. Not having any reason to think there was a problem, we used our debit card to get cash from our account. No problem, gave us cash. Now comes the interesting part. They have this thing where ever month a set amount of money is pulled from checking to savings for overdraft protection. We had money in savings, they did transfer it over. Charged us $10.00 to do it and they charged us $35.00 for an NSF fee in checking (so much for overdraft protection). On an account that is very much open, and that there would have been money in, if they didn't refuse the direct deposit.

Today was my fifth day calling because we got a letter stating our account would be closed, it would be reported to ChexSystems, and we would be charged a $30.00 charge off fee. This was because our checking account was in a negative balance, once again due to the fact they refused a direct deposit.

I have got nothing but run around. Everyone's busy, their not at this branch today, they are with client's or when you call the 1-800 number are told it needs to be handled at the branch office.

Do yourself a favor bank with someone else. It seems they like finding all kinds of creative ways to take your money.
