My mortgage account was sold to Home Eq several months ago. My previous two mortgage holders sent coupons or books with a space clearly marked for additional principal which I used to reduce my balance.
Home Eq statements do not include such enties and when I first paid the aditional principal was not accounted correctly. I called and was assured this would be rectified.
But then I did not receive a statement the next month and had to call to get one.
I am still calling every month (going through a web of menu options to talk to a real person) and think I have the situation under control although I still call every month.
I can easily see how this company's procedures could msilead an elderly or less educated person and am frustrated at having to monitor my account every months.
I also hold accountable my prior mortgage holder Capital One for transferring this mortgage to Home Eq as my principal payments evidently reduced their interest collections.
