This is another redundant complaint about Cross Country Bank. I could also go on and on about the hell and monetary infractions I have been put through with this company for the past 5 years, but I think everyone else has said enough.

I paid off my account in April. I sent letters out to 2 different CCS locations telling them I want my account closed. I sent the payment in time, but as usual, it took them 12 days to apply it. Hence, I received a finance charge on the amount I paid for $12. When I called to complain, I was told that the payment was late (however, they didn't charge me a 30$ late fee, and WE KNOW that they missed out on that one!) Well, I decided to just relent as I was too busy and tired to deal with them so I sent them a check for the 12$.

Needless to say, this took them over 2 weeks to apply the payment. Amazingly, the next statement I received said that I owed a 30$ late fee for the finance charge. I began to get rude letters and a few phone calls from their automated collection computer. I called yet again. This time I was told not to worry about it, and that they would take care of it. I was so upset that I threw this statement away.

The next month, my CLOSED ACCOUNT balance was now up to 30$. They charged me a 30$ late fee on the 30$ late for 12$ in finance charges??? I couldn't believe it!!! I called and wrote to them yet again. This time I said that I wasn't paying anything else and that was the end of this.

After a few more letters telling me they were going to turn me over, and then one letter stating that, "We cannot close your account per your request, " I finally got the charges credited to my account.

Now, 3 weeks later, I am still waiting for my money to come back to me. I got a reference number from someone in Virginia who was the first NICE person I've yelled at in 5 years.

I have NEVER had so much trouble trying to close an account! I cannot believe that they are allowed to be in business... Really I'm not. This is financial terrorism... Everyone. PAY ATTENTION!

I even told them this in my last letter - how dare they treat consumers this way? I am surprised that they didn't charge me extra for having a credit balance and I even told them this. That was something they hadn't done yet!

It doesn't matter what you do, or what you pay, Cross Country Bank will get you anyway!!!

Now it is September. That is 5 months taken to clear up a payment I made and trying to close my account. As far as I know it is closed, but they will not release the 70$ they owe me. Don't they legally have 30-days to give me back my money?

I don't want to let them get away with this - I feel for everyone who has written here.

Could someone let me know if I have a case?
