Took money out of my account when I didnt have an account with them Ripoff

I applied for a payday loan from this company and was turned down. On July 20th, they attemped to withdraw 4 different amounts from my checking account: $25, $50, $75, $120. This caused my account to be overdrawn and my bank hit me with 4 NSF fees @ $27 each.

If they didnt approve my request for a loan, why would they take money out of my account. When I called the toll free number, the girl who answered the phone said that once I fax them proof that they attempted to do this, they would investigate and then refund the money for the fee's.

I just dont understand why they would attempt to take money when they never gave me any.
