I am so irritated... I signed up at westwood online about 2 years ago. My job required me to be away from home for days at a time so I wanted an online class so I could start getting a degree. At first the classes were ok and financial aid was no problem. I gave them around $6,000 in student loans and then another $6,000 in Tuition Assistance from the Air Force. Now when I signed up for the loan the financial aid officer said that another $2,000 or so was still needed and I asked if my TA would be enough. She said it was. But then the collection calls started and the collection agent said that it had to come out of my pocket or take another loan. After a few months of this (I dropped them a few hundred dollars here and there to get them to leave me alone). But then the calls stopped coming. I then got paperwork to say that 2 loans were being dispersed at about $6,000, about the amount I had pulled out earlier that year. I thought that I had made a mistake when filling out the original loans. However, this past January it was time for loans again. I filed for a $7,000 dollar loan. Then Westwood started e-mailing me in April saying that I owed $11,400. I was like "Are you kidding me?" I got a ledger with the e-mail and determined that it was needed. Now I recieved said e-mail on the 4th, I opened it on the 7th. When I went to Sallie Mae's website, $10,500 had already been taken out and had begun dispuresments on the 6th. I also gave them $2,300 in TA. So I should have been over right? WRONG! A little over a month later they e-mailed me again saying I owed $3,400 more. During this time was the week break we get between classes so I wasn't checking my e-mail... When I did finally check it, I deleted the e-mails thinking they were spam... I didn't read the e-mail for at least 2 weeks. Once again I went to Sallie Mae's site and $3,400 had been filed in my name to be dispursed on the 30th of May... I requested another ledger and the accountant was insisting that I owed this money... The ledger said other wise. According to it I was $1,200 over.
Honestly, with the exception of a few classes this school is a joke... It's pretty much what you can teach yourself. One class had a program needed that the school didn't offer and had only a few crappy tutorials... Your final needed to be in this format.
I'm sadly still enrolled in this school, knowing if I quit they'll call in my loans. I'm off to military legal tomorrow. I hope to get in the class action lawsuit already pending with this school. I hope their so-called Accredidation gets taken.
