I am a consumer who became overextended in credit card debt. Looking for lower payments, interest rates and an approval for a debt consolidation loan, i found a "finance company" web site called georgia lending group - this isn't a company i have ever heard of before, but i did as much research as i could. he told me that i have been approved for a loan for 50k. I expressed interest in taking a loan for 20k. The "representitive" quoted the interest rate, payment amount and terms of the loan. I asked for a copy of the contract to be sent to me. After reviewing the contract, it appeared fine. The "representitive" then asked that i send the contract back with a copy of my drivers license to verify my identity and my pay stub to verify my income. It all still seemed to be a normal practice - but the call became strange when the "representitive" told me that i need to wire a 10% down payment via western union or money gram and send it to san quan homes in marietta georgia. I fortunately did not wire the funds, but this "company" now has my personal information. I feel so very violated. I searched on line to see if other consumers had any experiences with this company. I found feed back from other consumers. They stated this company has also requested a wiring of funds in order to recieve the proceeds of this "loan"
I've searched bbb.org - georgia lending group is not registered. I had an opportunity to ask the "representitive" why and he stated that the company must pay a monthly fee to be registered with bbb - in order to keep costs low, they opted not to register. I checked the state of georgia business verification site. The company is registered as a business
This scam preys on individuals who seek financing that may not qualify for traditional lending products. The low payments and rates that are quoted makes it sound very attractive. So what is wrong? Wiring funds up front and to make this out to "san quan homes" this sounds like an individual? There are consumers who have gone through the process completely and wired the money. They have not recieved the loans as they were promised.
In my case, i did not wire the money, but unfortantely they have my private information. This is very scary! I went to my local police department. I was advised that at this point the company did nothing illegal. There is nothing that i could do until they open accounts in my name. My only recourse is "after" the damage is done?! There has to be more that can be done to expose this company and protect consumers! Help!
