Two years ago I sought the help of Family Credit Counseling Corporation to consolidate a bit of credit card debt. I enrolled in a 4 year payment program that would help me eliminate over $30K in debt.
The enrollment process was simple and easy.
I didnt experiance any problems until the Hurricanes of 2005 hit.
I had been sending my payments ON TIME (sent via Fed Ex) but yet I started to get notices from my creditors that they had not recived payments from me in almost 4 months!!!
I tried to contact FCC on MANY occasions via e-mail, fax, and phone. I never recieved any phone calls back and when I did get through a very un-sympathetic customer service representative would tell me they would have some one look into it.
Of course this never happened.
I recieved a letter in the mail from the CEO Mr. Armstrong with a very generic letter telling people that the hurricanes destroyed the office and they had temporarily relocated.
Now, by this time, Im getting VERY NASTY letters from my creditors collections departments. I tried to explain to them what was happening but they didnt care. Ultimately, Im responsiable and they "threw" me out of the program.
My credit has been seriously effected in a more negative way than if I had just tried to continue to struggle with the payments on my own.
Finally some one from FCC called me back and said they would contact the creditors and re-submit the approval paperwork so I could be "re-approved" for the program.
I was then told I had to call back to make sure it all went through... They couldnt even give me the courtesy of calling me back.
Months went by and all was well... Until I got another late notice. I had to go through the same re-approval process yet again, and wouldnt ya know it, I had to keep calling back to see if things went through.
In November I recieved notices from my creditors that payments were missing AGAIN. I called FCC and spoke to Monica who informed me that payments are now sent out 15 days after they are recieved. When I said that this was new to me and that I had not been informed of this change I was told some one would call me back. NO ONE CALLED.

I recieved a response that they have RE-sent yet another set of approvals to the creditors and I need to contact them and ask to check their records to see when they recieved the last payment from FCC so they can re-modify the payment due dates.
Now I ask you, with all the screw ups that FCC did... Wouldnt you think they could at the very LEAST take care of this them selves?
Here I am, yet again, trying to restore my good name with my creditors becauase of FCC's mistakes.
This is a TERRIABLE company and I promise that you will regret the day you ever heard of them.
Do not do business with them unless you want to be forced into bankruptcy.
They are the worst company i ever had to deal with!!
