I received the most disturbing letter yesterday. It states "notice to voluntarily vacate the subject manufactured home within 10 days of the date of this notice. If you do not vacate Green Tree may seek a court order to evict you from the premises".
It was addressed to my husband and daughter. Neither one of has ever been in contact with Green Tree, submitted any payments, etc. This was a complete surprise as my husband and daughter do not have any accounts related to the home in their names at all.
Needless to say, I am absolutely livid about this. Where did they get the full names of my husband and daughter? What gives them the right to send out this type of letter? What gives them the right to ask for such of family members? Who/what gave the the legal premise to write to my family members?
I have not been late on a payment, skipped any payments, etc. I have received telephone calls from Green Tree in the past month asking for me to make up a month of payments to bring me 'up to date' to which I know that I am not behind.
This is clearly against the law, where the mortgage company is violating privacy.
What I need is help on this matter - if they are doing this to me, they have already done and will do to others without cause!
Is there anyone out there who is serious about stopping this type of abuse?
