NCO listed a false debt on my credit report for a medical bill of $996, for a hospital in another state. I challenged it on my credit report, and it came back as, "valid".
I have tried repeatedly to talk to someone at NCO, but I get transferred and then disconnected. When I say I have challenged the entry, the party on the other end says " Oh, you challenged it?" and then promptly puts me on hold.
From there, I wait for several minutes until I get a recording telling me to wait (duh.), for the next representative. After that, the phone goes dead. Over and over again.
I complained to the FTC, and haven't heard back yet. What can a person do to protect themselves, when you can't prove a negative, and you can't even get anyone from NCO to talk to you?
I found this website by accident, trying to find any kind of phone number to call NCO. This is how I finally got their phone number.
Not listing their full contact information should be against the law. If an entity is accusing you of being a dead beat, they should be required to list their full profile on credit reports.
How can we stand by and let creditors post damaging information, and then accept their claims to validity, without question or proof? Ugh.
