I enrolled with a CDS in May. I felt good about the decision. I was due to get married June 21st and wanted my programme started and underway by the time I was walking to my beloved on mid summer's eve. Little did we both know the year of hell that was to follow!!!
First The enrollment ewas never started and so it had to be re-done with extra paper work blah blah. Finally it got underway, or so thought, in July. I had signed up for Direct debit so that there could not possibly be an error of 'the mail never came' or 'The dog ate the homework' Nothing was actually coming out of my account, and then it was explained that it takes several months to get going, but that it was finally underway in September.
Monies were taken. I just saw the amount taken, and I was confused by the harassing calls from crditors, but was assured everything is underway. I must have bugged those counselors constantly, wanting to be sure everything was ok. There was always information differing from the last person I spoke to, and 'The Team' system, that they had for a group of individuals handling your case was obviously quashed and now it appeared to be a crapshoot about whoever was available.
I did try to take names and have some continuity but it was not easy. As it got close to the holidays I became even more concerned as some creditors were insistent that they had not received monies since September. My account was continually being 're-aged', and i was told a multitude of reasonings about why and what re-aging was.
The hurricane had hit Florida and I had 2 letters form a now 'Family Credit Counseling.' I was told this was the other department that handled the actual counseling and payments. The letters informed me that The hurricane had caused a little havoc with the payment system, and that all the creditors were aware and had letters and that my payments had been posted late by Family Credit counselling, but that I would not be penalized.
None of the creditors knew anything about The hurricane situation affecting things apparently. Then I had a counselor tell me that my payments were not all posted to all my creditors, that in fact some have been overpaid. I expressed that I was not going to bear the brunt of that, but was informed that it was too late to get the monies back from creditors overpaid.
So now I had late payments and payments that were never made since September apparently mounting. I was told that these would probably be waived, but of course they were not and haven't been. I closed my account of 19 years in fear that they were rip off merchants, but was calmed down by yet another counselor who assured me I was thrown off the program but that now I was re-instated.
I had received information that led me to beleive that I could not dump this organization, that I would never be taken on again, and by now the debt was climbing big time. I was so much worse off for starting the programme.
I continued to send monies in form of money orders, with certified mail and have done so since the start of the year, always being careful that everything is sent on time. I am apparently being thrown off the programme again, by one creditor, and Family Credit Counselling will not deal with them. They keep telling me to callmy creditors yet I had also been told to not speak to them, and to let the counselors only deal with it.
I am ashamed to say I haven't a clue to where I am with my situation. I have requested a report on monies taken and applied to check any discrepanies. This programme has been a nightmare. I have done everything to a T to ensure that this succesfully flowed and that was able to solve this debt problem. It has in fact completely ignited a difficult situation. I am literally Gobsmacked at the unprofessionalism and the way the company deals with things. I have no doubt at all, that something very shady is going on.
Do yourself a favour. Stay away from CDS, Family Credit Counselling or any alias's they may presume in the future.!!!
