I recieve SSI as a low income citizen of Connecticut, on the 2nd of October, I had $223.29 in my account, the very next morning, I had a mere $96.00 in my account. I was at a Greyhound bus terminal to buy a bus ticket to go be with my wife in Canada, they told me my Visa check card had declined.
When I called Netbank from a payphone, they told me a company called AT&T had placed a check memo hold on my account on Oct 3rd. The amounts of the three holds on my account are $56.86, $59.24 and $10.45 for a total of $126.55 of my Supplement Security income.in order to file an unauthorized charge on my account, I would have to print out forms, fill them out and send them to Netbank, I do not have a printer and would have to go to a library to print them out.
I would like to add that I have NEVER done business with AT&T and do not make collect calls, I use phone cards for all my long distance and emergency calling. When I called AT&T, they had no record of an account number or a hold being placed on my checking account.netbank will not tell me when the hold will be released and I am doubting whether filing a report will result in a reversal of my money.
I have had to delay my vacation to see my wife by about three weeks because of this screw up. I had a few bad relationships with other banks and now I cannot open a "traditional" checking account. I have two bank accounts in Canada but cannot have my SSI directly deposited in those accounts, so I am essentially stuck with this bank until my credit clears up.
Is there anything I can do to get my money back or find a bank that does not use ChexSystems? I have no options in regard to directly depositing my SSI into my Canadian bank accounts. I hope somebody out there who has dealt with this sorry exscuse for a bank can help.
