I recieved a call from someone claming to be apart of Mastercard services. They stated that I had recently been declined for a Mastercard thru their main services, which I had sometime ago. She then told me that I was approved for a Mastercard with a credit limit of $2000.00 with a fixed interest rate of 8% and no annual fees. All they would need is one time fee of $249.00 for insurance.
I'm an active duty service member and have just recently finished with a messy divorce that has left me with little money left so this sounded pretty good becuase it is definetly needed to have something to use to visit my kids.
Against my better judgement I agreed and went through the process of being on a "federally required secure line" and gave the next gentleman I was on the line with my information. It all sounded and was done very profesional. Luckily, I didn't aprove the withdrawl until the end of this month thru thier services.
After finishing with them on the phone, I sat back down at my computer here at work and had this nagging feeling I had been a victim of a scam. I began searching online for this company where I luckily found this site. After reading all the reports, I began trying to call their customer service number and realized that everything written here was true.
I then imidiatly called my bank and told them that I felt I was the vitcim of a scam. My bank (Bank of America, Military branch) was very responsive and even waived the $20 fee that they would normally charge to block the withdraw and also adviced me that if they did find a way to withdraw the funds, to imediatly let them know so they could refund my money.
Please, even if your in a desperate situation like myself, think before you give out any information to anyone! You might not be as lucky as I was to find out about it until it's to late.
