Capital Choice Consumer Credit
Ripoff

Hi! I am a teacher and consider myself very intellectual and thought I could spot a scam right away. I was sooo wrong.

Like many others, My journey begain when I got a postcard in the mail saying I was preapproved for a 6500 dollar credit line. The small print on the back was in light blue writing and hard to read. It sounded so good. I ended up sending in 39.00 and received some goofy card. When I realized it was not a Mastercard or Visa, I immediately called them and canceled.

I thought that took care of it and went on with my life not giving it a second thought. Then around the beginning of February, I get a call from Capital Choice Consumer Credit out of the clear blue at 8:51 at night. The girl who called me Roxanne, told me how this would restore my credit and went on and on about how it will only do good for me. Then I was past around to several people who kept asking me to repeat my personal information over and over. Then Roxanne gets back on the phone and tells me that in order to be in the program, they will need to deduct 149.95 from my account. She asked me when do I think would be a good time to do this. Stupid me said around March 15. She said I would pay this amount and then receive a catalog voucher in the same amount just a few days later. What made me give her my checking account number was the fact she continued to go on and on about how I can receive an unsecured Visa through them. So I gave them my account info. Like an idiot and waited for my packet.

My packet arived "Priority Express" mail and was a big packet of crap. I received a crappy catalog that was so overpriced they had to make a separte price sheet. And to top it all off, you have to put down a down payment before you buy something. I also got a fake looking silver credit card. But you can only order from their crappy catalog. I have never heard anything like that before. I was having second thoughts and tried calling the ONLY number I got in my packet and it was busy. I tried a dozed times and only got a busy signal.

I didn't think anything of it and thought I could call tomorrow to cancel and then that night all HECK broke loose. I called my bank to check and see what checks have cleared, etc. I hear this message of a electronic check debit of 39.00 on 2/25 which I did not authorize. I ended up getting several 800 numbers and went crazy calling all of them to try to cancel this stupid little card. I was on the phone over an hour. They kept telling me how I authorized it. I explained to them the whole story about Roxanne and the only electronic check debit I was expecting was 149.95. They were SSSSSSSSSSSSSsOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO confused because they said they dont' do any programs for that price and I must be very confused, etc. They were horrible people. They made me feel like an idiot. I had to call and cancel a stupid calling card (39.00) that I didn't ask for or authorize. Then I had to call road side assistance and cancel them. I didn't ask for that either. I told one guy how I looked them up on the internet and told them they are scammers and they said, "Oh, no we are a legitamate company. Do you think we would be up and running if we werent" I couldn't believe I fell for this scam and gave out my checking account number. I am in the process of trying to protect my account to make sure they don't deduct from it again. It was very difficult to talk to these people. They will continually tell you how YOU are wrong and that was never said and they record all conversations and how their salesperson reads from a script. And since the amount of 149.95 is not one of their numbers I must be wrong. Roxanne said the information for those things would be in the packet and I could decide if I wanted to join those things or not. Roxanne is a very slick salesgirl. She will say anything to get you hooked.

I will continue to call the several 800 numbers I have to try to get myself out of this.

Here are the numbers I have that work:

To cancel the calling card: 1-888-797-8079
"suppose to be customer service for this company" 1-800-790-6195
or 1-800-803-4174.

To cancel that roadside assistance 1-888-446-3353

Those were the numbers I was given. So please dont' be angry with me if you try them and they don't work. I got several busy signals before I got through.

I am not giving up. I am going to continue to try to get my 39.00 back. If you have any advice for me or could help me please write me by clicking on the REBUTTAL button below.

Thank you,
Anne
