An account was turned over to Alliance One (recently aquired TRIAD along with a number of other collection companies) from Chase bank. I discovered this when simultaneously (on the same day!) I received a letter, a voice mail (my answering machine identifies me by name so the individual knew she had the right number) left at my home (which I intended to call from my office on my lunch break) and received a call from a neighbor stating that "melissa" from Alliance One called and said she was looking for you because there was an account we were having trouble with"!
Help, help, can they really call my neighbors? I've called Alliance now 4 times trying to speak to someone in authority but to no avail, only able to leave messages and I've called "Melissa" leaving a voice mail to: 1. Cease contacting any more neighbors and 2. Asking for a complete list of all neighbors contacted. I AM SO EMBARASSED.
What are my options? After a being very ill (including a close brush with death) I fell behind in my payments.in order to make small monthly payments I cancelled my health insurance, but was turned over anyway with Chase telling me "we're obligated by law to charge off accounts at 7 months".
