Chase Manhattan Mortgage - Castle Meinhold And Stawiarski Attorneys
Outright lies and deceipt

Due to some income problems a few years back, my wife and I were forced to file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy in order to keep our house. This last fall, because of a miscalculation in our checkbook, our house payment didn't clear. Chase didn't attempt to contact us, but instead put our home in forclosure. We had no idea, until we received notice in the mail from their attorney's office, that the house was being sold.

Repayment arrangements were made with the attorneys office. Just before the final payment was made to the attorney, we received notice that the house had been sold. My wife contacted the attorneys office and they informed her that it was "just a formality" and that as soon as they received the final payment everything would be fine. The final payment was made to the attorney in January and my wife contacted Chase to be sure that everything was alright.

Melissa, at Chase, informed my wife that we were not current but agreed to accept partial payments to correct the loan. January, February and March payments were made to Chase over the phone, as well as a Double payment in April. Today, my wife received a call from "the new owner" of the house offering to let us stay in the house. If we keep our "rent" payments on time for a year, he will allow us to buy the house.

Immediatly, my wife called Chase and talked to a man named Brian. He informed my wife that Melissa had been fired because she had lied. (I don't know how many people she had lied to).

After the first year of the bankruptcy, I had attempted to secure refinancing on the house so we could pay-off the bankruptcy and continue on with our lives. I found a lender that agreed to work with the loan but said that he would need a letter from Chase confirming that payments had been on time. Apparently, Chase had been reporting that they hadn't been receiving on-time payments outside of the bankruptcy. My wife called Chase at least 3 different times. Each time they promised that they would send us the confirmation letter, but we never got one.

If Chase would communicate with their customers as fast as they communicate with their attorneys and honor promises made by their employees, they might get back into the mortgage business and out of the forclosure business!!!
