Computer City Supercenter issued me a credit card through Hurley State Bank when I bought a computer in 10/1994,90 days same as cash. Computer was paid off within the 90 days.
Credit reporting continued through March and remains as account status open. This affects my universal credit score and has become impossible to change.
Through the internet and many, many phone calls I have traced Hurley State Bank, Gray, TN accounts to Citibank and the account number is recognized in their computer system as an old account but they cannot close the account and recommended making a written request.
I have written to Citibank and await a determination. The credit cards issued for companies who go out of business should automatically be closed when they have a zero balance. I can understand selling accounts that have a balance but those who have zero balances should automatically be closed and reported as such!
