Starbridge ripoff Frequent delays for paying a claim denied claim never the same answer runaround

This company is the epitemy of greed. These incompetent people will do everything they can to deny, avoid paying, or delay a claim. Besides this, it takes a miracle of God or an act of Congress to be able to get a supervisor on the phone.

In February my wife and I found out we were expecting our first child. We went to the doctor, confirmed the results, and were ready to begin the journey. All until we found out how really sh*tty the insurance we had was.

First of all, I found out that the amount of premiums I pay throughout the year is greater than the annual medical benefit amount to be paid each year ($1000). Then, we find out that we have to file our own claim paperwork.

After figuring this out, we realized that this insurance will not be very helpful when it comes to paying for the cost of my wife's delivery. So, we went to the doctor for 5 prenatal office visits before the actual $1000/ year amount was used up. After that, my wife returned to her native country of Colombia to have our child in order to avoid us being in debt for the rest of our lives.

Anyway, after paying for the 5 office visist out of pocket, we submitted the claim to Star back in July.in August they sent a letter stating that these were global charges that are considered at time of delivery. Also, to submit itemized bills with the doctor's information along with procedural codes and receipts.

We did that and called to find out that as soon as we provide proof of birth of our daughter, that the office visits will be reimbursed. I sent in the birth certificate along with all of the required paperwork for the claim that I had been asked before. I sent it in November via USPS certified mail. They received it on December 3. I called today, Dec 7 to see how the progress is going.

They tell me that they have not yet received the paperwork. Well, we all know that is a lie and I called them out on it. Ok, all of a sudden they need additional paperwwork from the doctor stating why we decided to discontinue using his services and why he did not bill under a packaged procedural code.

Hello!!! We quit using his services because the insurance company is too cheap to pay for more than $1000 per year for a birth and I had to send my wife back to her country to have the child. Also, the doctor did not bill or submit a claim under a packaged procedural code because the damn insurance requires the patient to submit his own claim paperwork!!!

These people are greedy morons. I asked to speak with a supervisor today, and have been waiting 6 hours now for him to call me back. I guess I'm just wishful thinking. I am sure that he will have some type of different answer for me when he decides to call me back 3 weeks later. The bad thing about this whole situation is that it was the supervisor who had told me before that my claim would be complete once I sent in the birth certificate.

I do not understand how a company can continue to keep adding requirements to the claim paperwork to pay a small claim of only $300. I am really growing impatient with these people and I am going to call a few of the national media outlets to expose them. I know quite a few people who have experienced the same thing or worse.

I hope many people read this and do not choose this insurane company if your employer ever offers it. It is not worth it. Trust me
