First National Bank Of Omaha
Ripoff excessive fees dishonest practices changes on accounts for the worse

This is my advice for those who have to come into contact with First National Bank of Omaha; DON'T! In my dealings with them I have come to discover that the way they process payments, handle their overly inflated fees, and seemly general intention to squeaze all the blood from the proverbial turnip.

First off, I want to say that I am not perfect, and I had a period of bad times I dealt with, loss of job, bankruptsy, etc. I understood the penalities going into it, and have had to deal with what something like that can do to your credit, even if you repay some of your debitors.

After getting married to my wife, I was added to her account at First National Bank of Omaha. I noticed that immediately they liked to charge for alot of stuff that I never had to pay for before, statement reprints, statments, etc. Fees for NSF have gone from $15 to now $28, per event.

Our account, like many, had changed some two years ago; The general checking account had a $400 to $1000 line of credit; if you went negitive, your transaction was paid, and you were charged much like a credit card, as a fairly standard rate of around 9% interest. That was acceptable, and understandable.

First National Bank changed their accounts, and it turned into such a cash cow for them, it would sicken anyone with any decency. They now still offer a $400 safenet, in case you happen to slip, and your account goes negitive, they pay the transaction. Nice, except they end up slamming you for $28 per event. Doesn't matter if it's a single dollar, $35, or even $200.

I had a recent occourance that prompted me to post this; It's over small matter, $12. $12 that I was charged for something that happened at the beginning of last month, where my account was negitive for 4 days due to a processing problem with our car loan. I tried disputing this, and was told by a rather rude customer service agent I was basically SOL. So typical.

I have friends and relatives that have worked for FNB, and I was told how on repeated basis, customers were nailed for fees, denied loans and credit over small things; The way they say they have no control over when something is processed, yet amazingly enough stuff will take weeks to process, and end up processing the day before a direct deposit is entered. How conveiant.

My advice, steer clear of this bank at all possible chances!

Once again, I want to state I am not perfect, no one truly is; but we do our best, and it seems odd how we get slammed for alot of fees, that seem
