I have been banking with Coastal Federal here in Myrtle Beach for about seven years with absolutely no problem at all. Then the news came a year or so ago that BB&T was purchasing my bank. I was skeptical but kept the account because I knew of no other bank to turn to, and at that point I had heard nothing about BB&T. Well, it is a year later, and they have pushed me to the brink of financial ruin!
I put my money in the bank just as I have always done, and I used the card with no problem to pay bills and purchase school clothes. Imagine my surprise when I checked my account online and it was $1200.00 overdrawn! How can this be? I had $2000.00 in my account on Wednesday, and now it was Monday and it was $1200.00 in the red? It is now a couple of weeks later, and I still have no idea how this happened, and BB&T will not do anything to make it right. They told me their deposit system was different and that it is an "intelligent system."
I Googled "BB&T horror stories" and saw that I am not alone! Somebody tell me what is going on! I want to organize the people they have done this to and start a petition, go to the press, or something. How can we do that?
