In June I received a letter from the Los Angeles County tax collector saying that my house would be auctioned off due to unpaid taxes from 1997 and 2002. The total amount was $1072.00 for taxes and $1747.00 in penalties and interest, for a total of $2819.00.
I called Aurora Loan Service, told them of the letter and who to contact at the L.A. County tax collector's office. The lady assured me it would be handled right away. I called back the L.A. tax office later in the day, and sure enough the amount had been paid by Aurora.
One month later I got notice that Midland Mortgage Co. was my new mortgage company and to start sending my payments to them, which I did. A few months later I got a notice from Midland that my monthly payments were going up over 300.00 a month due to projected increases in the next 12 months. I wrote back and told them that their reason for the increase was a lie and that it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what this is all about. Midland sent me a new payment book with the same amount I was paying Aurora before I got notice of the increase. I told them in my letter that I was not going to pay any different amount. Midland never responded to any of the letters I wrote to them about this matter.
After getting all the paperwork from Aurora Loan Service, it shows Aurora did pay off the tax lien, but only the 1072.00 was credited to the account. The other 1747.00 was given to Midland as a negative escrow shortage. So my thinking is that by paying the 1072.00, Aurora is admitting fault but not taking responsibility for the 1747.00 in interest and penalties. These taxes were not supplementals, and Midland trying to get this money is a complete lie and shows how low these companies will go.
Now the problem I have is that Midland says I owe them over 5000.00, which includes their penalties and interest, and I cannot take advantage of these low interest rates and refinance because Midland is showing I'm behind on my payments. I can prove everything I stated here and will not let these bandits take me down, and I will defeat them.
