I was going to make a payment online through my bank, but instead of sending the money to my car payment, I sent it to Allstate. I called Allstate two days later and asked for my money back, since my Allstate bill was not due until October and I had to make my car payment. The person I spoke to was clearly a foreign operator, since he asked me to call back the next day to talk to a state operator. Once I got connected to a local operator, I was told that my money was going toward my ex-wife's policy. I am utterly confused as to how that could have happened, since I have been divorced for more than four years. Luckily the operator was able to track down the check that was going toward another policy and canceled the payment, but the worst part is that nobody at Allstate knows why that happened.
I have been with Allstate for about eight years and am afraid I cannot trust it any longer. I need to know why it happened, and if I do not get appropriate answers and a solution, I am afraid I will have to make this a legal matter.
