Orient-Express Hotels Ltd
Stabbed by Orient Express and they never responded

Dear Sir/Madam:

We have stayed in a number of your hotels and taken train journeys with you both within the UK and from Paris to Venice. At the moment, we are undertaking a 23,000 mile flight across two continents in support of organ donation:

And on this journey, we are getting widespread TV, radio and print coverage and it would be safe to say that millions of people have read about this journey of ours. We are now on the way back north towards the Guyana's and spent two nights at the Hotel ads Cataratas in Foz do Iguacu. This was my second stay at this hotel.

At breakfast, the low hanging light fixtures, which have razor sharp palm leaves extending so low that anyone over about 6'2" would risk injury, sliced my head open. Now I am an organ transplant recipient myself which means that I am both on blood thinning medication and also on anti rejection medication hence have virtually no immune system.

When your employees saw what had happened, they rushed over as blood was pouring out everywhere and the manager was called over. I explained my situation and was met with assurances that the steak knife like lights were "cleaned every day". Really, you disinfect them daily? They applied a dry dressing which tore the scab off and prompted further bleeding last night when we changed the dressing to a more suitable one.

Now the icing on the cake is that, as suspected, it has become infected as the telltale swelling of my extremities and facial numbness begins and we will have to waste time and money on finding medical assistance and antibiotics in Brazil when we don't speak Portuguese.

We expected some sort of gesture to be made at checkout but were merely met with a single "if it were up to me..." little remark. Now, you have caused me further problems, made me sick and possibly risked the remainder of this journey which I have been working on since my near death two years ago.

So I propose that you make a really decent show of accepting responsibility for your failure to recognize a simple hazard and failure to adhere to any kind of duty of care for your guests by trying to defend that hazard. I am not a compensation kind of guy but you have reached into my life and caused us problems when we do not need them.

With deepest regrets,

Christopher McLaughlinwww.flight4lives.com

PS - Looks like there is going to be a documentary and guess who is going to feature in it? You're already on the web site.
