I was recruited by Direct Strategies to sell rebate certificates and fortunately did not take any customer orders. I purchased some "Excess Inventory" certificates to give a way as a promotion and tried to use one myself. It took 4 months but I did get one $25 Visa card. The next month I got a letter saying that I could trade for travel services or wait until they could send the next card. When I sent in my last receipts, they were returned with the message the the receipient had moved and left no forwarding address.
I only lost $120.00 so I consider myself lucky but it could have totally ruined my fundraising business.
