I looked for the Hotel Camino Real in Oaxaca, and the link www.camino-real-oaxaca.com came up. It is misleading, as it leads you to believe you are visiting the hotel's site. It was not until after making a reservation and waiting for confirmation to confirm payment that I realized it is a broker's site. So I decided not to confirm payment and not go through with the reservation.
Initially, they told me the reservation had gone through and that if I canceled they would charge the full amount. So I went back to their site where you will be unable to find a phone number and that's when I knew something was wrong with this company. After reviewing the payment policy and the e-mails where they said I needed to confirm payment, I confronted them and they "reimbursed" the money they should not have charged from the beginning. Then I noticed they reimbursed everything but $24. When I wrote to them, they said it was a cancellation fee.
Appalling! A cancellation fee for a reservation that was never confirmed and not paid for! Beware of this company and DO NOT book ANYTHING with them and do not give them your credit card number under ANY circumstances. If you want to book a hotel go directly to www.caminoreal.com/oaxaca_i/main.php and save yourself from these people.
If you have been ripped-off by them while in Mexico, you have rights and you can report it to the Mexican government office of consumer affairs at www.profeco. Gob. Mx.
