Gave me the run around and ripped me off!

I purchased my timeshare on June 2nd and I have a phone bill that shows i've made phone calls to Wyndham Vacation Resorts that whole first week i signed up. I tried to cancel on June 7th, which is within my 7days of cancellation and left a message to call me back. I did not receive any phone calls till after my cancellation period ended. I was told by the sales rep., Jerry Cartwright that I could cancel anytime and "not to say anything but you have 7-days to cancel with a full refund". Yes, i quoted that b/c those were the exact words he told me. And yes, he did say i could cancel anytime. I spent 4-hours on my vacation and i asked him numerous times, with my girlfriend next to me, whether i can cancel at the end of the month, a year from now, or years from now if i dont want it. I was told YES every single time. Anyone would sign up if they were given that opportunity. I was told to call him if i wanted to cancel, which i did. I never received a phone call back and waited. I called back again and got a Sales Manager, Paulette Lake, and she said i should look into renting it or having my sister co-owner with me. I said no i want to cancel and she told me Jerry would call me back. Keep in mind, I was never told to write a letter, I was only told to call them if I wanted to cancel. I didn't receive a call back for a few days so i called again and finally talked to Jerry. He said I couldn't cancel and I should look into renting it out. I said no i dont want to I don't want this anymore. So i eventually talked to Paulette Lake again and she said I cannot cancel and that i'm pretty much screwed. Now this was at the end of the month of June. They gave me the run around never returned any of my calls. After numerous voice messages and never returned phone calls, i got a hold of Director of Marketing, Keith Smith, who has actually been helping me cancel this whole thing. He told me to speak to Directory of Sales, Darren Koch, but he was no help and told me to talk to some Director of Membership Sales, JW (his first name). I never received a call from that director so I called back Keith Smith on July 5th. He told me that I have 90-days to write a recission letter and to send in the phone logs and highlight the phone numbers for Wyndham. Now today, July 7th, I sent a Certified Mailed letter to cancel. I will fax out a copy of the letter tomorrow. BTW i did not notarize these letters. I wasn't sure if i had to. I guess I'll get them notarized and send them again.

I was hoping to find a lawyer that would help me with this. I am a New York City Firefighter and will probably call a FDNY Union lawyer but was hoping if i could get someone with experience with this matter to help. Also, if i can get any tips on whatelse to do. I tried to cancel within my cancellation period but never received a call back. After reading this site, it sucks to say, but i'm glad i'm not the only person going through this. I will gladly take these people to court and tell any news outlets willing to listen. I feel bad b/c my girlfriends parents on a timeshare from this company and they were told that they could cancel anytime as well and they've been members for a long time. I dont understand why this company isn't shut down for criminal actions. Someone please give me some feedback on what to do!!!
