The place that we stayed at was not the "resort" atmoshere we were promised, but rather a cheap motel that was rarely cleaned. We were prompted to listen to a sales presentation and promised a "deluxe" room in exchange for that. We later learned that our room was not upgraded.
After returning home on a flight that costs us about $500, I sent an e-mail to customer service about the experience along with pictures from the rinky hotel. About a week later, after no response, I followed up with a call. No one has yet to respond to my complaint.
I am forgoing a portion of my package, although I have paid the additional fees, to Cancun, because we would pay $1000 for a flight and that's too far to go and too much money to pay have the same experience. I figure I'm better off losing the $200 and taking it as a lesson learned. I am very disappointed at the responsiveness of customer service.
As an aside, the presenter informed us that his company paid Coral Travel about $600 so Coral Beach made enough money on this deal (and countless others) to offer some type of consellation.
