Hotel Ripoff Management refused to pay for items stolen out of room by employee

Upon check-in myself and another Police Officer were told that our room was not ready, since the hotel was full the night before. We were told we would have to wait in the lobby while our room was cleaned. We did not really mind since they had a TV however an hour went by until we were told we could go to our room. Shortly after we got in we noticed it was really cold in the room, I tried the heater only to find out it was broken. I then called down to the front desk and asked if they would send someone up to check the heater.

After an hour of waiting the hotel maid arrived, merely lokked at the heater and said" Yep it's broke" and left. About another hour went by and another maid came in and said." I don't know why I'm here, but yeah it ain't workin" and also left. I stopped her and asked to be moved to another room or at least send the maintance man up. About a half hour went by and they told us they had another room ready we could move to, I asked for the key and the maid laughed and said I would have to go down and get it.

We both were staying at this hotel as we had in the past since we were in class very close by and they have always treated us well. However the next morning I went to get in the shower and luckily grabbed a towel before I got in the shower and it looked like someone had wiped their ass with it, since we were running late I really didn't make a fuss over it just grabbed another one. After returning from class neither of our room keys worked and we had to walk back down to get new keys made and when we did get in our room we saw that all of our luggage was stacked by the door. My brand new leather coat was in a garbage bag with a pair of running pants and a few shirts wadded up inside the coat. We really didn't think much of it and thought maybe our luggage fell over while they were cleaning, However when I went to get in my luggage I noticed most of it was missing. All of my underwear, shirts and other items were gone. We then figued out that our luggage was sitting by the door so it could be easliy taken by the maid but we must have come back to soon and interrupted her.

I then went down to the desk to complain and my room mate called and said his running shoes were also missing. We both then demanded to see the manager and if need be call the police to make a report. Since we were both officers we knew the procedure and wanted to speak with the owner. The hotel manager was very helpful and was trying to accomidate us in anyway possible. However shortly after we were told that they were going to comp our room and give us some cash to go buy some clothes with, the hotel owner Alex Ghoman called and stopped them. I was told he wanted to speak with me and was handed the phone. Mr. Ghoman was very rude and wanted to know exactly what our problem was. I explained to him he had a thief working for him and that we had itmes solen. He got very defensive and told me that he did not believe me and that I was just trying to get out of paying for the room. I was shocked that I as a customer would be treated this way and advised him that I was a Police officer and that was completely out of line. The conversation continued to go down hill and ended up on Mr. Ghoman hanging up on me. I then again spoke with the General Manager to said she was going to make it right with us no matter what. We then askled if they would get in trouble for giving us our room, and they both said they would probably be fired. I then said that I wanted to speak with Mr. Ghoman in person and demanded he come to the hotel or I would be calling the police department. About 3 hours. Around midnight Mr. Ghoman arrived and made us wait in the lobby until he was ready to speak with us, again with an attitude and very defensive. He wanted to know why there were 12 other rooms with Police Officers staying in the hotel and we were the only ones that got robbed. We explained to him that he needed to make it right with us as the customer, and that we did not appreciate the comment. About an hour went by with lots of yelling an arguing until Mr. Ghoman realized he was wrong and needed to make it right. W ealso found out that they had on video the maid that stole our items running from the hotel with a large bag of clothes earlier in the day. Mr. Ghoman after we threatend to sue him and his hotel was very apologetic and did comp our room, However would not re-imburse us for our clothing that night or the next morning. He said he wanted our address's to send us something in the mail to make up for it. Well needless to say we have not seen anything in the mail and I doubt we will. I have compained to the BBB and to the main company of choice hotels but I understand that each hotel is privately owned, so very little can be done.indianapolis PD did take a report, and the maid never showed up for work the next day (go figure) I would think twice before you any anyone you know stay's at this hotel.
