I was referred to Orange Lake resort by a relative who has a time share at the resort. The friendly but persistent staff called us until we paid $190.00 for three nights at the resort. We received three nights for $190.00. We upgraded to seven nights and paid extra. We understood that we would have to go to a sales presentation and went to it with an open mind.
Orange Lake is building some new buildings that I am sure are going to be very nice. We inquired about the location of the new buildings as we were considering buying a $30,000 time share. No one could answer our questions. All they wanted was for me to SIGN THE CONTRACT. And of course give them a check. I explained that before making a large purchase I would need a little more information i.E. What floor our apartment would be on, what our view would be, what building we would be in, how close to the new highway we would be etc. Etc. Etc. No one would answer our questions. All they wanted was the check.
After I explained to our "tour guide" that I was not going to make the purchase at that time, he brought over his "sales manager" to "fill out some paperwork." The sales manager looked like a sleazy used car salesman complete with, gaudy cheap cuff links, chains on neck and wrists, cubic zirconia tie tack, extremely large flashy glasses and very large ego. He explained to me how important it was that: "you need to get in right now, these things won't last, He owns five time shares already, etc. Etc. Etc." This guy was a complete loser. My wife and I finally got up and walked out.
As a professional business person I was very dissapointed. Orange Lake Resorts is not disclosing that a NEW HIGHWAY is going to be going directly through the resort. I asked about the Highway and one of the sales representatives told me that "Orange Lake" was building the highway to make it easier to get to Disneyland". I couldn't believe it. The Highway is a MAJOR Interstate Bypass of Orlando.
In conclusion: I made it out without being pressured into a sale I wasn't ready to make. I feel sorry for the ones who aren't able to stand up for themselves and succumb to the pressure. Especially the elderly who I believe fall victim at ORange Lake quite frequently.
This is a very deceptive organization. I intend to notify the DA's office.
