I started checking out Debra Bourassa page in late 2011 trying to find the best breeder/puppy for me. Everything on her page made it seem like she really cared. I wanted/want to have one male and one female to breed myself. So in march I saw a puppy that was so adorable she had called him stuart little he was a cream/tan color he was tiny (as a breeder you want the male to be smaller in hopes that the babies him and the dam have are smaller so less chance of problems during birth: breach birth or having to do a C-section etc.) She was charting him at only 2 pounds full grown perfect I thought.
So I emailed for a bit then I called and we agreed on X amount as down payment and the remainder paid on X day when I would have the rest of the money. The next day she emails and says she cant wait till then claims she is being too nice to too many customers and wants the full amount on X day (before I have the money). Now we had a verbal agreement (I think of this later mind you) but this was my first time buying a dog online and figured she could do this so I email back and say Im sorry then I cannot get the dog. She flips out yelling at me saying she cant believe I did this when she saved him for me and passed up a good woman in FL who wanted him but goes on to say she will keep him for herself. I felt horribly guilty (which was her motive) so long story short I found a way to have all the money when SHE wanted it.
She tells me on the phone I dont have anything from Donovans line (the father of stuart) I really would like to keep stuart. I laugh thinking she is just joking. She says this several more times through email and phone. While I wait for it to be time to get my dog I ask questions as I think of them she takes a long time to answer IF she decides to answer many questions she blatantly ignored and just never answered (I asked several times with each question). Its time for my puppy to ship she claims he doesnt weigh enough ok I wait several more weeks then there is supposedly tornados where his flight (she says she booked) was to lay over and she couldnt risk flying him then so I wait another week or so.
Then she tells me she washed my puppy with CAT shampoo because she was out of puppy shampoo!!! The next day she is saying she cant ship him because patches of hair are failing out. I repeatedly ask her to take him to the vet the first couple times she ignores me pleas then she starts saying that even if she took them the vet wouldnt know they would do a skin scrape. Im like OK DO the skin scrape but shes like there is no need he either has MANGE or effects from the shampoo says if she did the skin scrape I would have to pay for it because it was a waste.
I ask for pics of proof and the pics she sends I cant see any hair loss and there is white pixels throughout the photos (making me wonder if the pics have been tampered with) I have these photos still. Either way if its supposed mange or shampoo effects I plead with her for weeks offering to fly myself there and get stuart because she claims she cant fly him this way (she also refused to refund the shipping cost claims it was free later though in email she claims it was 300 minimal for shipping) she finally says to pick another dog she is going to keep him. My suspected fear has come true she is keeping the dog I love for herself. What am I to do? She has all the money I either lose all my money or pick another puppy.
I am devastated but pick another dog. She tells me he is the runt and might not live she charts him at 2-2 pounds. I ask for new pics she tells me she really only updates the NOT sold puppies pics often, not the sold puppy. So basically its Hey youve paid me so I dont really care if you get to see your dog grow up. I dread calling her because all she talks about is her health issues her kids and their issues her CATS and THEIR issues. She LOVES her cats way more than the dogs! On the phone I hardly can get any questions in and she talks down to you as if youre a child.
So its a week before my new puppy is to fly out and she tells me in a email (I have kept EVERY email to her and from me to her as well) that the puppy (she called him Lucky) weighs less than his brothers and sisters and is still the runt. The day of the flight she calls me and says he is bigger than his brothers and sisters and he may get to be 4 lbs I am dismayed but really excited to finally have my baby.
She tells me when the flight will arrive but NO DIRECTIONS on how to get him at the airport. She booked him to arrive at midnight on a week day! I make sure I will park my car at the airport an hour before he is to arrive so I can find his port and then find out how I actually get him! So I find his flight number and guess what hes not due to land till 1:30 am and it says his flight is on time! So she either got the time wrong or lied either way I sat there for two hours and then didnt get him till 2 am I didnt get home till 330-4 am.
So I have his litter box set up that she says is what he is trained for. I show him right away put him in the litter box first thing he picks his paws up one at a time looking confused then jumps out walks a couple steps away from it and pees! The next couple days I TRY to get him to use the box he hates it! Just pees and poos right outside the litter box. I have since pee pad trained him with NO pellets (because he hated the pellets).
I look in my folder that is supposed to have my vet certification there is NONE just a pamphlet with dates written down by her of supposed worming and when she supposedly gave neopar. Oh and dont let this neopar is the best thing fool you. You pay so much for a dog from her and she only gives parvo shot WHICH only is health guaranteed for 10 days (So it says in her contract which I can show). So its the best parvo shot out there but you only guarantee it for 10 days? Every other breeder I know gives the first 4-way shot (The 4-way shot has the Parvo vaccine in it)! I THOUGHT that was what she did.
So I take him to the vet the next day and they weigh him and he is 2 lbs 1 ounce wow she was supposed to ship him at a pound and a half AND she charts him at 2-2 pounds FULL GROWN! I do the stool sample as instructed for my health guarantee and I want it for my peace of mind especially with no vet certification from her vet!!! The tests come back that he has TAPE worm and round worm! I pay for the worm meds I pay for the first 4-way shot I pay for the vet visit.
He is now 6 months old and weighs 5lbs and 11 ounces (there is 16 ounces in a pound) so he is almost 6 pounds and Chihuahua dont stop growing till up to a year. She saysother breeders are bad breeders because they say teacup and pocket pup on her site she says XXX tiny now how is that any different? When you see XXX tiny what do you think? In her feeding your puppy page she calls them teacups. Even when you go to her site up in the tab description she has the word teacup in it. She goes on and on about how her dogs are more compact body size even has pic in her measurements page of how her adults are 6 inches long! She says on her website dont get fooled by other breeders do you want a skinny 2lb 12 inch dog or a 3lb 7 inch dog? Well at 6 months my puppy from Debra is 11 inches long and almost 6 pounds!!!
So I email her telling her all this she says she cant believe it OH MY very very rare does this happens to her AND she goes on to tell me how the first puppy I wanted stayed at 2 lbs! Im like Im not surprised you wanted to keep him because you knew! Shes like I didnt keep him I gave him to a friend (exactly you say how your friends and family keep dogs for you so all your dogs arent at your house and you get arrested for puppymill! She also breeds and sells yorkies and Maltipoos she and her friends/family have a LOT of dogs.) she said from the beginning that she wanted to keep my dog and she did. Now I am stuck with one of what she calls on her own site a taco bell dog who is going to end up being 8 lbs and 12-13 inches long.
Since my first dog (stuart 6 months ago) she has sold OVER 15 puppies from her site and I have seen her put up TWO referral on her site. Those two referrals are from the puppies sold in the last 6 month period. There is a third one but it is from a puppy sold 11 months ago. What does that tell you?
There are several reports on Debra Bourassa for various reasons (the ones Ive seen): mange, luxating patella (knee problems), Debra wanted more money for a dog, She has decided she wants to keep the dog for herself etc.
After I had paid the full amount for my puppy I was trying to find her website from a computer that was not my own and I typed in munchkinland chuihuahua and found several reports on her that was over 8 months ago I searched again recently and this is what is left:

Each and every report here on ripoff against Jennifer Wartena is because she is one of the most respected, honest breeders that has come up against a large puppymill operation in California. The owners of this puppymill are doing their best to discredit Jennifer. This puppymill ring leader is Debra Drury/Bourassa/Washington (Chidolls, Famous Pups), Dawn Dalyce (Sugar N Spice), Brenda Hagle (Currently suspended from the AKC from Lees Fashion Poos), A.M. Borassa (Amber Bourassa), Maureen Drury/Bourassa, Mark and Cindy Drury, Della Drury, Brenda Bourassa, etc., Jennifer assisted me with my sick puppy when Debra Drury refused to honor her contract or the California Puppy Lemon Laws. Due to her assistance with the health of my puppy, she has received numerous threats from the above ring leader.
If you have ANY dispute of ANY kind with Debra the contract she has you sign if you want a puppy (which she doesnt show you till after your deposit which is non-refundable oh and its 50% of the price of the puppy 2300.-5000.) says that any problems that go to court will be held in California and you will pay for all her legal fees.

Why has she changed her website name so much? Do you remember how she posted on her munchkinland website about bad breeders selling a bad dog then closing their site down?
Debra just recently put this in her site: A WRITTEN SIZE GUARANTEE if size is important to you. Options of money back, credit for exchange, discount toward next puppy... If the breeder starts offering every excuse in the book as to why they dont offer some kind of compensation, walk away.
Before she posted that on her website when I emailed her about how big my dog was she offered to give me a discount on another dog! So basically she is saying you are out the 2300. You spent on that dog AND I want you to give me more money for another dog that might be just as big!
She demanded I send him back and that she would give me a discount on the next puppy or credit for another. I did NOT want to go through that hell with her ever again! Besides that really? Debra you want me to send a puppy back that I paid you 2300. For and no reimbursement? Im sorry youve deceived me but Im not quite that stupid.
I am a real person not as Debra calls it another breeder bashing each other.
