I was contacted by a representative of Homeowners Counseling via phone message. They said they were a law firm calling about my mortgage. I called them back and was told they were actually looking at refinancing our mortgage. After a few preliminary questions I was told they could save me $800 per month but would need a couple of days to check my credit. Mark said he was an attorney at that time (unsure if this is true) I then received a call telling me it would be $500 to "clean up" my credit. I then said that I was not interested in doing that. Alicia said that they would then waive that fee and she would call back in 24-48 hours. Four weeks later I had not heard from anyone. I called several times during varying times of day but never got an answer. I then sent an email advising that we were no longer interested in their services. A week later Mark called me to ask if I was still intersted in their services. I said I was not. He asked if I was going to pay them for their time spent "cleaning up" my credit (I have seen no evidence of this). I said no I was not. Mark then said that is "fu*ing sh*y" and I said I beg your pardon? Mark repeated "that is sh*y". I then hung up. Do not do business with this company! Extremely unprofessional!
