Errors in Their Billing Blamed on Me!

Im writing in reference to ADT Security. Beware thebusiness practices of this company. I had been with them for a couple of yearsor so when I needed to add an additional control panel by the front door of myhome. That was the beginning of what has become a several months long battlewith them trying to charge me for amounts I do not owe.

Either the sales personthat came out to add the new panels (as they all had to be changed to match thenew one going in), and to whom I gave a credit card number to charge the $199to for all of the new panels I didnt want, got the accounts mixed up; or thelocal office he worked out of failed to either post the card payment or theyfailed to properly charge for the $199; or some other major error occurred thatthey are now trying to pin on me.

Within 45 days or so of simply adding a newpanel and giving them a card number to charge all of the upfront fees that ADTrequires before they will install or change anything, I was being billed for amounts in the three hundred plusrange!!! Turns out when Broadview Security, which was the original company Isigned on with for security monitoring, was taken in by ADT, they never madethe adjustments to my account and suddenly I am being billed double, payingdouble, and accused of non-payment!

I called and called and called asking. Noalmost begging at times. For help from the salesman that made the initialaddition of a panel sale, to his office manager (who was an absolute joke andbasically refused to offer any help or even speak with me. Constantly pawningthe problem off to others that could not help), to corporate, to billing, etc. And no help.in the meantime I am beingcalled and harassed by ADT!!! On 11/18 I finally spoke with someone at ADT that Ithought had resolved the problem.

His name was Fashir Ben Davidson and hestated he fully understood what had taken place (finally. After days and daysand weeks of talking to brick walls about the problem) and had made notationsto correct it all. When things started going haywire in September and I was payingdouble bills, I stopped any further payments until the issue wascorrected. Fashir assured me he hadfixed everything and all I would need to expect was a statement for $69.98 forOctober and November payments and all would be back up to speed.

I waited andgot a bill for over $300 again and called. I was told by another agent I spokewith on December 5, named Nelson, that he saw the notes in the systemfrom Fashir on 11/18 and I was to disregard the incorrect statement and waitfor the corrected one. Obviously a correct statement never came!!! I wont gointo all of the ridiculous details regarding this situation because it wouldmake this letter way too long, but know there is way more than I am statinghere!

I have been called by ADT up to six times in a ten minuteperiod; over 18 times in about a ten day period for example, been called after8:00 at night; been repeatedly called on Sundays, holidays, and so forth; havebeen verbally threatened, harassed, and more by this company for an error thatwas not mine. Keep in mind I had been with them for a couple of years and neverhad an issue until I wanted to simply add one more control panel by anotherdoor!!! I also pointed out to them repeatedly that when they came out andchanged the panels to ones I neither liked nor wanted, they failed to reconnectthe glass break sensor, however, they are yet to send anyone out to repair it.

Finally, in January I just told them to cancel my account and we were done. I am nowreceiving bills for over $1000.00 with them stating I owe them for a whole newcontract buy out and they are threatening my credit. They have apparently nowturned me over to a collection agency and are going to (or already have) blackmarked my credit. This is absolutely unacceptable, wrong, unjust, and anotherexample of a big company attacking a consumer for something that is not theconsumers fault.

These companies, like ADT, use bullying tactics, unfaircollection practices, violate collection rules and regulations, and both try tothreaten and intimidate to collect. I have now been contacted by some type ofcollection group called National Action Financial Services, Inc. Attempting tocollect the debt I do not owe. Had I ever gotten the correct bill for $69.98, it would have been paid and all bills monthly following would have been paid asthey always had been in the months and years prior. They are damaging my creditover their mistakes and this is not right!

I am sending this letter to everyagency I can find from the Alabama Attorney General, to the BBB, to the FTCcomplaints department, to complaint, and to any and all others I can to gethelp with this situation. They have and had no right to black mark my creditfor their mistake and it needs to be corrected asap. I am in hopes that one of the agencies, if not more, thatreceives this letter can offer me help with this situation. It is not fair thatthese firms can damage someones credit and more because they dont want to dotheir jobs properly. I look forward to your reply!
