A high school school girl named Mary came to my front door and said that she was in a local program to help her with her public speaking. She also said that they were raising money to go on a trip to Hawaii. She said that if she sold magazines, she would get most of her trip paid for. I looked at her list of magazines and asked what what would be good for my teenage daughters. She suggested one magazine and I gave her a check for the order. She gave me a sticker to put on my front door so that other sales people in our area would not bother me. Later, that day I found out that the magazine would not be appropriate for my daughters.
The next day, I called the phone number on my reciept. I spoke to a woman named Bonnie and we changed my order. She said that I would receive my magazine within 3 months. I was about ready to cancel my check because I had heard of these scams, but because I was able to contact someone at the phone number, it put my mind at ease. Well three months have gone by and I have not received my magazine. I tried to call the number again and "surprise", the phone number is disconnected.
I see that there is another report in Simi Valley, CA. That is a town close to where I live. Their report stated that they are contacting the police and the Attorney General for the state of Texas. I would like to be kept up to date on what measures can be taken against this company.
