The salesman is very friendly and thepitch makes sense - a club membership is cheaper than owning a boat. However the expectation is from the client perspective that you are dealing with a higher end club because it is national so you will have better service and better boats. Freedom Boat Club - Miami is run like anything like a high end club. The owner is ill-tempered and very quick to blame members versus seeking the best resolution or customer satisfaction. Boats are very run down, radios seldom work, reservation system is very unfriendly and lastly no one answers the phone when you call. There is really no customer service, members are treated like dirt, frankly.
One of the dock attendants tries very hard but his common sense is discounted by owner so that profits are maximized. Joint memberships are sold but you are not allowed to swap reservation between joint owners, even when you both are required to pay seperate monthly dues and carry seperate insurance.
Night and extended hours reservations are only granted if you have reservation so there is little truth in unlimited rentals. You will always need a reservation on a weekend if you want to go out. The lower end club is the only one that really has boats (more than 1), but its the upper two that have boats you want.
Lastly this is a club you join for a year or two till you get your sea legs than you buy your own boat because you get frustrated with the hassle and headache of the club. The savings is not worth it.
