I was a resident at Catalina Tropics from 11/01 until 04/30. Upon moving out, I received a bill and a list of the items I am being charged for that I find outrageous to say the least. Silly me - I thought I'd get my deposit back!!! I am being charged for a normal wear and tear that is a part of living in an apartment.
I left my apartment in a great condition, and yet Im paying for the managements preparation of the apartment for a new tenant. I was an exceptional tenant never late on rent, no noise or any other complaints from Jeannie or any residents.
Im being charged for the entire repainting of the apartment. I was only there for 6 months and I was extremely careful with the paint, so I dont see why I should pay for the entire apartment.
I always leave every apartment spotless before I move out. It was my intention to do so in this case. However, I was informed by Jeannie that I will be charged a cleaning fee regardless, which I find completely and utterly unacceptable! I have lived in many apartments and have never heard of any tenants being charged for something that is a standard procedure.
I am also being charged for a carpet cleaning (which in my opinion should be included in the cleaning fee!) and removal of some bleach spots that were not there when I moved out. The landlord and I did the walk through together.'
I'm writing this to warn any potential residents who may think they're getting a good deal, but don't know what's going to happen when they move out. This is coming from someone who's ALWAYS gotten a FULL deposit back for every single apartment I've ever lived in. Basically, there is no way to get the deposit back, no matter how hard you try. You're lucky if you don't have to pay them hundreds of dollars to get the apartment ready for the next tenant. Yes, you're paying to prepare the
apartment for the next tenant. What a robbery! I hope this reviews helps someone else not to make my mistake and rent at this place.
