I can't believe this fraudulent business is still robbing people!!! I did not take them to small claims court in 2007 only because I was too busy.
They will never never give you the partial refund of the fee they promise if you have not found a rental within 3 months. I made sure I would get it because I really needed the money, kept all the listings. But given the distance, they accepted to fax them. How many times did I call for the listing, call, and call, and got no one, so a listing or two were not faxed. It only takes one!!! How conveniently easy to scam people. If they skip the faxing of one listing, the money is in their pockets because then for sure you cannot provide the required 24 listings. Which of course they said nothing about when you register with them. They lie upfront to your face!
I got trapped like all the others, with a nice rental advertised in my local Penny Saver. You call, they ask you to go to the office. There they mention the fee. You pay. Then and only then, do you get the information that "Oh, that place is no longer available"!!! Of course, it never existed!
The customers I saw in their office are modest folks that may not know of their rights.
I wrote and faxed several times. My last registered mail was returned unclaimed. I wrote to the Penny Saver to inform them of this deceptive business. The ads disappeared for a while and then reappeared with the same wording but with an alternate phone number. I re-wrote to the PennySaver and gave the other phone number. The ads disappeared, then reappeared with the same wording for a rental in Arcadia instead of Monrovia, and on and on. At the time I also wrote to the City Attorney who never bothered to reply.
This business MUST BE SHUT DOWN and its manager prosecuted.
