We visited the Directbuy location in Rocklin and were told that no purchase is required and come and see our showroom, and the company is giving free membership for coming to see the presentation and we get to try the key to see if it opens the door to receive free house makeover. We knew this couldn't be free but we were eager to find out more about the company and products since we are in process of buying new house and thinking of places for affordable furniture. I spoke to Cristy on the phone and she made our appt on December 1st at 2pm. We reached the showroom but to our surprise the customer service rep told us we have to see the 40 minute video of becoming member. So we did as we were told but in the process of the watching the video found out if we reject the membership that day we couldn't come back for the next 7 years. The manager kept giving us examples of savings. Than took us around the showroom and back to our customer service rep who wanted to sign us up for 3 years for $7500. We asked them before we sign up can we look through their catalogue to see what they sell and if it could benefit us or not. They said no, we don't allow anyone to see the catlogues until they become members. Why tell us in the beginning we could see the catlogues and they want us to give them $7500 than we could view their materials and trust them what they showed and were manipulating us in the 40 minutue video.
