I placed an order (in the amount of ~70 USD) with Obsneakers.com in March. The company claims to be able to provide hundreds of "authentic" retired Nike and Air Jordan athletic shoe styles.
While my order arrived promptly (from mainland China), the enclosed pair of shoes was totally different from the pair I had ordered. The style that I received was an older, fairly unpopular style while the style I had ordered (Air Jordan Trunner LX Premier) was an exceeding popular style and continues to be in high demand in the pre-owned market today.
When I contacted the seller via email regarding this issue, the person informed me (in broken English) that the mistake was the company's error and that he/she was "sorry." However, this person also said that I would be unable to return or exchange my order, even though the company's website explicitly states that customers who receive the wrong merchandise are entitled to a full refund or exchange if a claim is placed within five business days of receiving the order.
I responded to this email numerous times, but received no subsequent response from OBsneakers.
The company proudly displays the endorsements of PayPal Verified, Verified by Visa, and MasterCard Secure Code on the bottom of its website homepage, which gives the impression that its business practices are legitimate. I would not have done business with OBsneakers if it did not have these endorsements.
When I contacted PayPal to dispute this transaction, the person I spoke with informed me that I would be unable to recover my money because the transaction took place through the company's website (versus a PayPal business partner website like eBay). According to the PayPal representative I spoke with, several other people have filed similar complaints (customers receiving the incorrect merchandise and being offered no accommodation) against the company.
Buyers: Beware of OBsneakers!!! This company is very clearly a bootlegging operation in mainland China that scams customers by advertising popular shoe styles and delivering other less valuable merchandise! While it may seem otherwise, you have absolutely no recourse when doing business with this company, which is obviously how they like it!
