Here are some facts that Labor Ready does not inform their customers when they use their service...
1) None of LR temp employees are drug screened. (They only drug screen if requested and they will charge you for it)
2) None of LR temp employees have background checks ran on them. (They will if you want to be billed more)
3) None of LR temp employees job skills are verified. The office staff just goes by whats on the application.
4) None of the temp employees past employers are contacted nor are they even asked on their applications.
5) Besides a generic safety video, the temp employees are not given any kind of Formal safety training.
6) They claim to have better screening practices by the use of "Tescor" behavioral survey. This survey asks the same questions over and over again. And all you have to do to pass it is answer the questions always in the positive never the negative.
7) There isnt any consistency in regards to comp coding for liability and in some cases they code businesses wrong in order to make more off the bill rate.
8) Bill rates are INFLATED to the point where they are usually making anywhere between $2.50-$5.00 an hour on reg jobs.in the case of Prevailing wage they make more than $9.00 an hour and up per hour per employee. This is their profits factored into each customers bill rate. If you want to figure out how much they are making divide your bill rate by what they pay the employees and you will find they are marking everything up from 61-200%. Call their competitors they only mark up 30-45%.
9) They have no retention motivation for their temp employees. No benefits are offered to them, not even the simple task of direct deposit. Almost all other temp agencies offer benefits. Their closest competitor "Command Center", who is exactly like LR (Founder of Command started LR) offers their employees health, dental and Vision benefits.
10) The staff is always advised to pay the employees the bare minimum on all jobs, unless they can honestly prove without a doubt they have to pay more.
11) They will hire ANYONE off the street as long as they can pass the survey. That means felons, drug addicts, alcoholics, thieves, and sexual predators.
12) The office staff rarely goes to its customers sites to make sure they are safe and make sure the temps have the right training or safety equipment.
These are some of the things that customers are not made aware of and are kept in the dark about. If you are a customer of LR go into any of their branches and find out for yourself what they are like. Try and fill out an application there and see how generic they are and nothing is verified except your ID and Social. Talk to temps in their offices and see how they are treated. I've been told by one of their District Managers that he fed his temps donuts that were four days old. Is this really who you want to do business with?
