Recently, I had read an add on the internet that was sent to me through a facebook, linkedin or classmates.com, "web link."
It read, lose weight by trying our ACAI BERRY PRODUCT, "Free Trial" only 4.95 for shipping and handling.
Since I am coming up on my fortieth high school reunion I thought I would give the product a trial base and actually do what it took too lose weight.
I did not read the small print at the bottom of the agreement. The print was so small that it would take a magnifying glass along with prescription glasses to make the contract legible.
After five days the ACAI BERRY trial arrived in my post office box, and I brought it home. I looked online at my bank credit card account and saw that the ACAI BERRY PRODUCT was not free there was already a 139.00 dollar charge and a 4.95 shipping charge that were separate charges on my credit card. The company ACAI BERRY was set up to keep charging to my account until I called or e-mailed the company. Of course it was an all day task to telephone an actual person at the ACAI agency. I was directed to a quit page and I made several copies of that page for the bank's fraud unit and the advocates team fighting to put the money back into my account.
Because of one law written for retailers with or without a store front, includes that if a customer reads all the fine print and they agree on a contractual basis the client is stuck with the product and has to pay the fees. Of course the customer can not stay on the diet product for a life's term but they do not offer freely a quit page. This information is obtained by making several long distance telephone calls to the distributors. Use your cell phones for the calls. The web protocols are not easily obtained. I sent the product back unopened and they still charged me for the shipping and the follow up box which was a months supply. If I had the time I could have argued it out because there is actually another product that you need to take orally before the ACAI BERRY works on weight loss. I wish I had not sent the product back now because they billed me anyway one hundred forty five dollars.
And the ACAI BERRY company told me they had to throw away any unopened packages as well, incase of tampering. We all know that's hype!
There is no further billing but this lesson had a positive side to it. First I used my cell to not pay long distance, and second I paid the card off with a 1.99 interest card, leaving a zero balance at that bank. My borrowing power increased and the card is at zero. Then because of online orders in the future I read all contracts throughly before ordering. I saw ACAI BERRY PRODUCTS in Northern CA"s health food stores and the bottles are relatively inexpensive 12.00 for 100 capsules. Third only buy products online from reputable companies.
Last but not least know that your bankers credit card service providers do offer a statue of limitations on products that are charged to your card for defects or services not rendered such as pre payments on items that are never applied. This statute is sometimes only 60 to 90 days from the date the charge was made. So ask questions from your banks fraud department and protect your credit. Everyone knows you can ruin your own credit without others helping you, so be careful out there.
