I am disable, a stroke patient with four bad disks in my back, nect and tore rotator cup on my left shoulder. I cannot work without placing myself in medical danger and intense pain.
McFarland came to my house from the Texas State Fence web site. He presented an estimate entitled Outdoor Oasis, as I think he creates bogus busniess names and web sites and probably has a history of doing this. Bill McFarland seems to be his real name as far as I can tell.
He offered an estimate for replacing the wood deck and adding iron rails which I found and picked out from a local vendor at 5.50 ea. He took a total of $2100 of the $2500 estimate to obtain and install the new decking and the rails on the deck and two side windows of the house. After months of doing nothing, he removed the old decking and installed new flooring, spliting half the pieces with screws forced into the wood ends without pilot holes. He left voids in the brick work on the deck columns from the removal of the old wood which he repeatedly promised to fix.
He makes promise after promise claim after claim and excuse after excuse. I am sure he never bought the rails which he claims are being built by a friend for two months now. The rails now coats $7.60ex up from the 5.50 they could have been purchased at the time agreed. He has spent perhaps a few hundred on wood, left the brick voids from removing most of the old wood and has done nothing and returns no calls. I filed a complaint with the BBb and now his voice mail is full and takes no messages and he does not call.
When he does call, in the past, he promises to be there at a time and call and nothing happens. He has made every excuse one could imagine and I have been tollerant and nice to him. He is clearly taking my money for a few hundred dollars worth of time and work. At least half the wood he installed is splitting on the ends from not properly making pilot holes for the screws.
He has exhausted my money to hire anyone else as I have a limited SSDI income. I am trying to fix the brick holes in my house one at a time dispite I am endangering my health and the horror of my wife. We have no rails on our upper deck. Yet, if I do nothing I have rain and insects getting into our house structure. This house is all I have to leave my wife as I cannot get life insurance any longer. I suffered a lower brain stroke and lost my ability to balance and my brain becomes over heated with headaches, dizziness and nausea, while I am trying to do work on an unrailed two story deck. My back and left shoulder pain is unbearable at times and some days I am unable to do anything. She is also afraid I will fall as I am not supposed to lay on my side and do anything as I get dizzy
. I am doing the best I can, trying to work a little bit and stop before it gets to me. I can talk and write but I am not suited to do physical labor in the heat. I become exhausted easily and cannot continue, some days I cannot function. Clearly McFarland is taking advantage of my disability thinking I cannot do anything about it. My wife is a former lawyer and is helping file with the BBB and hopefully a small claims court case against him.
