In September my daughter entered Miss Ridgel's beauty pageant where we were told that the entry fee was $300.00 and that after she received payment from us my daughter would then receive her contestant packet containg all the information regarding the pageant. The full amount was not due until the state meeting which was months later. We gave her a deposit of $100.00 and was going to pay the remaining balance at the state meeting once we obtained all of her sponser money. We then meet Miss Ridgel at her home in Covington La where she gave me a sealed envelope containg the paperwork.
When we got home and gave this to my daughter she started reading this where she discovered additional mandatory fees totaling about $400.00 which we were not told about prior to Miss Ridgel receiving our money. We then got an email from Miss Ridgel stating that if we chose to remain in her pageant my daughter would not be allowed to compete in another local pageant and she stated we need to make a decision by the next day which we did. We emailed Miss Ridgel back and told her we were not informed of these rules prior to giving her our money and we chose to withdraw my daughter from her pageant due to the hidden fees and also the fact we were not informed of this rule prior to us giving her our money. She emailed us back and she informed us no money would be refunded. No where on anything was this stated. She then allowed other contestants that competed in her pageant to compete for the same pageant my daughter was told she could not compete in. We told her we wanted our money back due to the fact none of this was stated prior to her receiving money from us. She emailed us back and told us that no refund would be given
