Cancellation rip-off and run around

I got a call one evening in January from MAC. Long story short I gave them my bank information and signed up for their magazine details because I thought it was great idea, I always wanted to get magazines but never ordered any myself.

On that first phone call I was told three things:
1) You won't be billed until the beginning of the next month.
2) You will be sent a list of over 150 magazine titles to choose from, up to a total of six.
3) You will be sent a redeemable code for the offered shopping spree.

I got their package in the mail three days later. What I found out in the next few minutes made me feel scammed.inside the envelope was a list of 45 different magazines to choose from, another re-sending envelope, and a pink piece of paper.

That pink piece of paper was the $500 shopping spree, which said it had to be mailed to the above address in order to receive my shopping spree. I then hit up at the bank and saw that my statement was a little lower than it should be.

The teller showed me that they had processed a payment not even seconds after I hung up the phone with them, and that I had also been billed by a company called promotions or something like that for an additional $5.50. I tried to call them and got an answering machine. I left three messages over the space of a week and no one called back. So I went to the back, and canceled my card.

I did not hear from them again until three months later when I received a mailed bill and NON-STOP calls and messages. I called them back, and lo and behold on the first ring someone answered. I told her that I was not impressed with what happened and that I wanted to cancel and didn't want them to call or mail me anything.

Her reply was infuriating.in order to cancel I would have to pay 75% of the total cost (like $800). And if I didn't pay they would report me to collections. She then ended that note by saying they would reduce my payment to $20 a month and send me a bill in May.

Any contact I've tried making since then has been ignored, I've left messages and tried to talk to other people.

Funniest thing out of this whole situation is, I've not seen one magazine.
