I recently moved from Laredo, Texas to Chicago, Il. I used Zen Van Lines from a referral through an internet search engine. The company is based out of Atlanta, Ga and they picked up my things in laredo at 1130 pm on april 4. The company set a scheduled time for pickup at 7 PM on the same day but failed to meet that and we were up all night loading up the truck. I spoke to the manager of Zen on April 7 and he said that my move would be more that expected due to the weight being over by 4000 pounds. I told him that this could not be possible but asked him if I could have it re weighed once it got here and he said yes.
The company got my things up to me in chicago on april 9 at 1500 and when the driver and I spoke I informed him of the re weigh and he said that he was gonna charge me 300 dollars as an inconvenience fee for doing the re weigh. I told him that the manager (paul Badi) told me I could do it and there would be no charge. The driver was apparently upset and he followed me to a cat certified scale. The weight came back on the rear by almost 1230 pounds less that what he had from his scaled weights. The driver was even more upset and then told me that I had to pay him in cash right now. I told him to leave it on the credit card and he refused.
He then took all of my belongings with him to atlanta and on April 10 I was told by his office that I refused delivery and that I would now have to pay a re delivery fee and storage all totaling out to about 4700 dollars above the already inflated charges. I was outraged by this and I wondered how they could do something like that to a customer and the only way that I could get my things back would be to pay up or they would auction my items off.
I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. They went and made a moving situation that is already intense into the worst situation that it can be. I have tried calling them on several occasions and they have refused to return any of my calls and we are apparently at an impasse and my only possible recourse may be to involve the court system.
