Consumers Please Beware!

On Sunday, December 21 at 8:50 pm CDT, I placed an order with Fur Outlet, Inc. For a brand new faux fur coat. The coat was $99.99 plus $21.85 for USPS Express Mail/Insured as was noted on the email confirmation of the order (order # 13441). The total cost on the order form was $121.84. The coat arrived to me on 12/23/08. When I opened the package, I noticed right away that no merchandise receipt was in the box. So, next I take the coat out of the box. Next, I notice that the coat has no labels and no tags on it. That's not all, on top of that it had a perfume smell all around the neck as if someone had already worn it several times. Also, it shed when you picked it up.

Right away, I call the company to find out if this company has sent me a used/vintage coat, because they do sell vintage items also (beware). I talked with Helen, who is supposedly the owner of the company. She told me that the coat was new, but I knew otherwise. You can tell by the looks and smell of something, if it's new or not. I was within the inspection period when I voiced my concerns about this coat and was thinking about returnng it. Because of the Christmas Holiday, I did not get to Fed Ex until 12/26/08.

I called Fur Outlet, Inc. On 12/26/08, to let them know the coat would be there shortly. The lady Helen went on to tell me that faux fur doesn't shed, and that my inspection period had lapsed, and that they were not taking the coat back... She sent me this email:

Hello:

We received your order number 13441 for a faux fur 3/4 jacket.
We rushed to get the jacket shipped to you as per your request (before 12/24) You received the jacket on December 23. A called was made into our company making accusations this is not new, used and no labels. As we explained to you we are manufacturers and labels go on once it is shipped to the retail Shop. This faux was is brand new. Made to your size 14-16.
We spoke on the telephone on December 23 and assured us you were going to keep the jacket.

Today, December 26, we received a call from someone acting as Nikita Contee friend. She stated Nikita does not like the faux fur jacekt. It sheds. This is unacceptable because faux fur does not shed. There is a one day inspection period as stated in our return policy. You have kept the jacket more than one day.

It is not necessary to use foul language when we
are telling you our policy.

First of all, I did not assure them that I would keep the coat. I would not have called them on 12/23/08, if I was happy with the coat. Secondly, if the coat is shedding and is not supposed to, then something is definetley wrong with the material. Thirdly, she thinks she was talking to a friend of mine and it was me the whole time. I don't know what on earth would make her think she was talking to someone else. Fourthly, I looked at my credit crad transaction, and it says, $126.84. Now where did the other $5.00 come from on my card that is not reflected on my original order form? Is this why they don't send a receipt in the box, so they can charge you any other price they want? This is definetly fraud and I will not tolerate it. I have email confirmations of the transaction and the cost of the transaction on file, it was supposed to be $121.84 and not $126.84.
I called my credit card company and put this whole transaction in dispute. Fur Outlet, Inc declined everything and wants to charge me a 20% restocking fee, plus shipping/handling/and insurance on the transaction. Then, they will issue a store credit for the remaining $80. Yes, I said $80 (Out of $126.84), Which should have only been $121.84. What was the $21.85 for when I originally paid for the item? It said USPS Express Mail/Insurance ($21.85). So, I've paid for my own shipping, handling, etc. And they want to recharge for that also. I will not tolerate it. I'm in the process of resubmitting with my credit card company, and will file with BBB also. Forget a store credit. I want nothing to do with this company. Let alone do any other shopping in this store. I will not tolerate it. Consumers Beware!!!
