Alternate Postal Direct (APD) Aka Deliverthephonebook.com Pay Delay, False Open Hours

Apd. What a company. I have delivered phone books before for a different company, and when I saw the ad for this company I kinda got excited, as there aren't many jobs to be had around here right now. What a waste of time & effort.

First, had to show up to what I was told would be a 10 min or so orientation. Lasted over an hour. Just the branch manager (Tammy Fulkinson) mumbling off & talking about random parts of the job. After this, was FINALLY able to pick a route and get paperwork & books. Picked a route by my home, proceded to go to the loading area to get my books. Well, at this point I found out instead of like last time of just delivering 1 book per house, this time had to deliver 3 different books to each home (a yellow pages, white pages, & a mini yellow pages). Ok thats cool, so more books = more money. After waiting over 1hr 15 mins.in line at the loading zone JUST to pick up some books (mind you after having to sit inside over 1 hr for their piddly little orientation) I was a little ticked. Well, my truck got loaded, and unfortunantly because of having to deliver 3 books to each house at a time, I could not fit ALL the books in my truck. Came back the next day to get the rest loaded into my truck, and this time had to wait over 1hr 45 mins in line at the loading zone. They had 4 tractor trailers loaded full of books sitting at this sites loading zone, yet they would only use 1 truck to unload from at a time, hence the horrible wait just to pick up the books.

So delivered the books, and got done Saturday afternoon about 3pm. Went to turn in the route for payment, and alas the office was not open. Ok, this one was my fault as the office hours on SATURDAY are 8:30a-1:30p. SO, I went back on Sunday. The office hours on SUNDAY were listed/told to us to be 8:30a-1:30p as well, HOWEVER upon arriving at the office at 12:30pm SUNDAY, NO ONE WAS THERE!?!?! Also, for payment to be made on Friday, routes have to be turned in by COB ON Sunday.By now you can imagine I am pretty livid. Tried calling the office number AND the Managers cell phone. NO ANSWER on either. Went back Monday morning at 10:30am, asked the manager why the site was not open Sunday and she replied "we ran out of phone books on the trucks, so my boss told me I could close early". I replied to her that I was turning in a route, came up the day before when she was supposed to be open and she wasent, so i expected to be paid Friday still, as this was not something that was my fault. She replied this could not be done as it is now Monday, blah blah blah. After about 5 minutes of going back and forth with this lady (who is supposed to be a manager), and her trying to give me every explanation as to why she couldnt pay me, I finally told her I wanted her district managers phone number & coroprate phone number. She told me they were on a wall somewhere, i told her to write them down and have them to me. She didn't.instead, she gets all hissy, and tells me to go take my paperwork to soem other lady in the office so it can get verified. This lady was a lot nicer, and tried to cool me down while she made some verification calls on my route. While this was happening, I heard the manager laughing about me & talking shit about me to another contractor there to pick up a route. I walked out of the office I was in, told this lady I heard her, and my lawyer would slap her with a defermation lawsuit so quick she wouldnt know what was coming. To this she laughed, and I replied "I will have your job next week". She replied to me "I will have you DNR'd by next week" as I was walking away. (DNR= do not rehire). Went and stood outside while the lady in the office continued to make verification calls on my route. Finally, I get called back in, paperwork was finished, and the manager says "supposedly" she got my pay situation taken care of and I should see a check on Friday, like I should get, instead of having to wait an extra week for something not my fault. We shall see... I'm not holding my breath, because I think this lady just wants to get another laugh.

Anywho, my advice to anyone who reads this is to STAY AWAY from this company. It seems great when you start, but the bullshit piles up so quick, your gonna need a pair of rubber boots just to wade through it all. Their process is VERY SLOW, yet they expect you to be VERY FAST, as they give you a time limit on your routes.

Oh and when they hire you, they not only get all kinds of info from you, they also fingerprint you. They say they are doing this in case you dont finish your route, or dump your books somewhere and say you delivered them. They say they will take full legal action against you if you dont deliver & or return the books. Only time I have EVER had to give someone a finger print was when I was arrested, or when I have cashed some checks at banks before.
